A Classic World Series Moment: Game 4 of 1957
The 1957 World Series, a thrilling matchup between the Milwaukee Braves and the New York Yankees, was filled with memorable moments. One such game, Game 4, stands out for its dramatic finish and the heroics of a young Braves player. The above photo captures a post-game image of the scoreboard that showcased the final result. It also showcased the name of the umpiring crew, including Augie Donatelli the home plate umpire for that notable World Series contest held on October 6, 1957, at Milwaukee County Stadium. My former colleague from Major League Baseball Productions, retired television/radio producer Bob Smiley discovered the photo online and commented on how well-dressed he thought the fans appeared. In addition to their attire, they were also beaming from ear to ear after Eddie Mathews belted the game-winning home run to right field to give the Braves a 7 - 5 victory.
